Science

At Willandra Primary School, we value the participation of all students in our science program and provide opportunities for every child to engage at their own level.

Students in Years 1–6 attend Science for one hour each week within a rotational timetable. The program covers the four key strands of Science: Biological, Chemical, Physical, and Earth Sciences.

Lessons are designed to be hands-on, engaging, and enjoyable, while providing opportunities for students to develop their scientific skills and understanding. Students conduct experiments, collect and record results, and develop their ability to write procedures, explanations, and conclusions. Through these experiences, students are encouraged to explore and investigate the world around them.

There is a strong focus on hands-on learning supported by a literacy component. Students work collaboratively in small groups to share ideas, build teamwork skills, and support each other in problem-solving tasks, experiments, and activities.

Overall, the Science program is growing and evolving. With a strong emphasis on engagement, curiosity, and hands-on learning, we aim to foster a love of science in all students.
